Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a particular kind of heavy machine that enables employees to be lifted into the air. These machines can be used to perform repairs and maintenance in places which are high up in the air like on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Like nearly all tools, there are various types of aerial lifts which could be used to perform different jobs. For the utmost safety, each type of different type of machine requires right training and specific certification prior to using it.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are a different name for scissor lifts. These machines are the most basic type of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to large carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could utilize these tools, employees must be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a a lot more complex type of aerial lift machinery compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift often has a much wider base to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket which enables the operator to lift and lower the bucket. Since the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run than scissor lifts, therefore, operators must be licensed individually for these types of lifts.
