Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is frequently utilized. This version consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can make the most of available storage space while increasing productivity.
