Kinds of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of equipment that enables personnel to carry out jobs without having to construct a scaffolding. They are utilized to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machines found in factory and warehouse settings as well.
Usually, construction lifts offer powered and wheeled bases that are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them which is responsible for lifting employees. There are many various types of lifts and every one is suitable to different tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually utilize these machines to prune trees.
Each bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a regular truck, which allows these vehicles to move fast on regular roads. Also, this increases the area which this machinery can service effectively. This is particularly important for power companies. For example, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to lift workers up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets should be checked regularly and insulated properly as they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform that is mounted on an arm which could bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Usually, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also handy for maintenance work on projects which are already completed. Projects which do not need easy access right beneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and areas that are difficult to clean. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
